What is the difference between a fractional CFO and a full-time CFO?

A full-time CFO is a permanent member of the leadership team, on the payroll, fully dedicated to one organisation. A fractional CFO provides the same level of financial leadership but on a part-time basis, typically working a set number of days per week or month. The fractional model offers two things a full-time hire does not: cost efficiency, since you are paying for the time you actually need; and flexibility, since the engagement can scale up or down as circumstances change. For most growth-stage companies, the practical difference in day-to-day impact is smaller than the difference in cost and commitment.
